Very similar to District 15, District 16 is also a popular residential neighbourhood in the East, sought after for its distance away from the hustle and bustle of city life and proximity to East Coast Park.
Situated along the southern-eastern coast of Singapore, District 16 includes:
- Bedok:A primarily residential estate with a good mix of public and private developments, and a bustling town centre.
- Upper East Coast: A tranquil neighbourhood made up of mostly private landed properties and condominiums that enjoy proximity to East Coast Park and Siglap’s stretch of restaurants and cafes.
Parks and Sports Centres
As a heavily residential HDB estate, Bedok features quite a few nature hotspots for residents to unwind and relax. These include the Siglap Linear Park, Tanah Puteh Park, Play Corridor (catered for kids), Bedok South Neighbourhood Park, Bedok Town Park, and of course not forgetting the massive Bedok Reservoir Park.
For the residents of Upper East Coast, the 185- hectare East Coast Park is quite literally at their doorsteps. Whether you’re looking to kick back and relax on the sandy beaches, enjoy a barbeque session with your friends and family, have a fun family day out at one of the many outdoor play areas, or even engage in some extreme water sports, there’s something for everyone.
When it comes to sports, East Coast Park caters to basic sports like cycling and jogging, to the most extreme in skating, cable skiing to a variety of water sports. In Bedok, fitness enthusiasts have even more facilities like Bedok ActiveSG Stadium, the Bedok Sports Complex, or the Bedok ActiveSG Swimming complex to choose from.
Schools, Libraries, and Other Public Facilities
As a recently expanded zone with newer public housing, District 15 is well served by a wide array of facilities in the neighbourhood. From bustling food centres, a public library, massive public integrated hub, to a dedicated polyclinic, and proximity to Changi General Hospital, it’s fair to say that the needs of residents in District 15 are well catered for.
When it comes to schools, District 16, like District 15, has plenty of options to choose from. This includes Bedok Green Primary, Damai Primary, Fengshan Primary, Opera Estate Primary, Red Swastika School, Bedok Green Secondary School, Bedok South Secondary School, Bedok View Secondary School, Damai Secondary, Ping Yi Secondary, and Temasek Junior College, just to name a few.

Whether you’re looking for groceries, a movie session, or just shopping, there are plenty of malls in the vicinity to cater to your needs – for instance, the massive Bedok Shopping Centre, specialty mall Siglap V, and Siglap Centre.
What’s more, there’s a whole stretch of nurseries along Bedok South Road for plant lovers, and a huge Decathlon branch for people looking for sporting goods.
